Bruce Professional Bio (Solar)

Bruce Carey’s passion for solar was ignited when he attended the 1978 Solar Jubilee in Phoenix, Arizona. Bruce began working with solar hot water systems in 1979, and since then whenever possible he has found employment selling, consulting, designing, installing and servicing solar systems. Over the past twenty-five years, Bruce has worked on hundreds of solar hot water systems with more than five companies on solar projects in Arizona, Mexico, Colorado, California and Costa Rica. In the 1980’s Bruce contracted with the U.S. government to do solar technology workshops at seven Indian Reservation in the Southwest, training Native Americans in the construction, installation and maintenance of solar systems.
Bruce’s solar experience includes construction of solar panels, design and installation of residential, commercial and pool hot water systems, servicing of existing hot water and electric solar systems, solar water purification, solar cooking and food drying, consulting, training and educational workshops on solar technologies.
Bruce decided to specialize in solar hot water because it is “the least expensive of solar solutions.” In his years as a solar technician, Bruce serviced many solar hot water systems twenty-year old or more, and he found that AET panels were the most likely to still be totally functioning and intact after 15 or 20 years. Today we use these same AET panels in many of our Solar Costa Rica systems.
